Italy Trusts

A "trust fund" in Italy refers to a legal/administrative institution allowing a person (trustor or settlor) to convey a property to another (trustee). The later will be responsible for managing and controlling the said property in favour of the settlor's purposes, that is to the advantage of one or more beneficiaries.

Therefore, there are three main actors in a trust agreement:

  • The settlor establishes and names the trust. Also responsible for executing the trust deed;
  • The trustee, this can be a physical or juridical person, who holds and manages the assets;
  • The beneficiary, as the name suggests benefits of the trust.
